Shrewsbury Town Tipped To Go Top Of League One With Victory In Saturday's Super 6
15:19, 22 Mar 2018

For only the second time ever a lucky punter came up trumps in the Super 6 last weekend, scooping up the £1million Soccer Saturday jackpot. The victor can now be found partying out in Las Vegas, or so we assume!

As always we deliver our six picks for the upcoming weekend’s matches, which have all been plucked from League One due to the international break. Meanwhile, don't forget to also get involved with The Sportsman's Perfect 10 game - it's free to play and you can be in with a chance of winning £10,000!

Bradford v Gillingham

A victory over Fleetwood on New Year’s Day put Bradford 5th in League One, a comfortable eight points above 7th spot, and six points off the automatic promotion spots. Few could have foreseen the torrid run of form which followed this result, as the confidence-crushed club have registered zero wins and only two points from their subsequent 10 games, leaving them down in 11th, seven points adrift of the play-offs.

We expect their winless run to continue on Saturday at home to Gillingham, who have lost only two of their 12 league games in 2018.

PICK: Bradford 1-1 Gillingham

Bury v Wigan

Wigan’s FA Cup journey may be over but they didn’t let that disappointment get to them in their following league game as they recorded a comprehensive 3-0 win at Walsall. The Latics have two games in hand on the two teams above them, and with a trip to rock-bottom Bury next on the cards, Paul Cook’s men will be expected to record their 23rd league win of the season.

PICK: Bury 1-3 Wigan

Charlton v Plymouth

At the third attempt of asking Karl Robinson was granted his resignation request, meaning it's caretaker Lee Bowyer who will oversee Charlton for the first time on Saturday. The Addicks are in poor form, with one win in eight, and it’s difficult to see the troubled club getting anything against in-form Plymouth who have accumulated a superb 22 points from eight games.

PICK: Charlton 1-2 Plymouth

Scunthorpe v Rochdale

Scunthorpe could drop out of the League One play-offs this weekend if their rotten run of form continues. The Iron have not tasted victory in seven games dating back to early February, with that win at Fleetwood the club’s only triumph since New Year’s Day. On Saturday they face second-from-bottom Rochdale, who have lost only once in five games, winning their last two on the road.

PICK: Scunthorpe 0-0 Rochdale

Shrewsbury v AFC Wimbledon

With League One leaders Blackburn not in action, Shrewsbury have the chance to go top of the table with a win at home to 19th-placed Wimbledon, who are two points above the drop zone. The Shrews have taken 14 points from their last seven games, and should be too strong for the Dons, although with the visitors fighting for their lives it could prove to be a very competitive encounter.

PICK: Shrewsbury 2-1 AFC Wimbledon

Southend v Rotherham

Chris Powell has only suffered the one defeat in nine games since taking over at Southend, but after a run of four matches without a win he’ll be looking to lead his troops to victory at home to Rotherham. Trouble is the Millers are up in 4th following a run of eight wins in 10. This one has the potential to go either way, but we’re sitting firmly on the fence by opting for an entertaining 2-2 draw.

PICK: Southend 2-2 Rotherham
