A stunning finish from Casemiro set Real Madrid on their way to a 3-1 win over their rivals Atletico today.
It was a picture-perfect finish past Jan Oblak and the goal overshadowed the fact that Welsh international Gareth Bale scored his 100th Real Madrid goal.
The win saw Real leapfrog Atletico into second place in La Liga and their title hopes remain very much alive.
Antoine Griezmann had pulled Atletico level with a cool finish having been put through one-on-one. Sergio Ramos gave Real the lead again with a penalty before Bale registered a century of goals for the club having been set up by Luka Modric's pass.
Atletico's problems were compounded when they reduced to 10 men as Thomas Partey walked after receiving a second yellow card.
The win saw Real Madrid close the gap on their fierce rivals Barcelona to five points. They have now won six of their last seven games - drawing against Barcelona in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final earlier in the week.
Former Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois had toy rats thrown at him by the Atletico fans who have not forgiven him for joining Real - he spent three seasons at Atletico on loan from the Blues.
Another former Chelsea player - striker Alvaro Morato - was disappointed to have a goal disallowed for offside. But VAR later confirmed this was the correct decision. Atletico have lost both games with Morata having been unbeaten in their previous 19 games.
It was a battle for 2nd spot in #LaLiga at Wanda Metropolitano earlier this afternoon...
