Stunning Scenes As Boxer Goes Rogue And Punches His Own Coach After Refusing To Accept Defeat

There were bizarre scenes from the boxing in Bulgaria on Saturday night as a Russian boxer reacted to a defeat by punching his own coach!

Gennady Martirosyan suffered a loss at the hands of Frenchman Fouad El Massoudi before completely losing his temper with his own corner!

Martirosyan refused to go to the middle of the ring to acknowledge his defeat, trying to get to his opponent for a bit more of a tussle before the referee stepped in.

Martirosyan's trainer then attempted to calm his man down, although the Russian reacted by throwing a punch at his mentor!  The pair weren't done there either as the trainer returned to the apparent safety outside of the ropes and attempted to pull his boxer away, only for the 38-year-old to swing another punch at his coach, who reacted by throwing a slap in the direction of his fighter!

Martirosyan then climbed onto the ropes to seemingly celebrate a victory... Utterly bizarre scenes and they are well worth watching below.

The Russian boxer had previously gone 26-3 during his career but the journeyman fighter, despite his advancing years, obviously doesn't take well to defeats. His French opponent, El Massoudi, had a relatively average career record of 15-11 but the 30-year-old was a worthy winner in the end.

Saturday's fight was part of the undercard to the main event of Hughie Fury's IBF final eliminator against Kubrat Pulev.

It was certainly a controversial start to the evening in Sofia and you can see the remarkable conclusion to Martirosyan's fight, including his fight with his coach, by watching the video from Twitter below. Simply click play to view the remarkable coverage...
