Swansea City Main Transfer Targets: Carvalhal Aims To Bring Andre Silva To Liberty Stadium

Carlos Carvalhal will head into tonight's FA Cup third-round replay with Wolverhampton Wanderers with other things on his mind, as the Swansea City boss is desperate to try and bolster his misfiring squad before the transfer window slams shut in a couple of weeks, and the boss of the Premier League's bottom club has some notable names on his transfer target list.

We pick out some of the players that could be heading to the Liberty Stadium in the next fortnight.

Andre Silva

An initial look at Andre Silva would have many scratching their head on why he would move to Swansea City, but the Welsh side have become front-runners to get the AC Milan striker, as they look to strengthen their attacking options.  Silva joined the Italian giants for over £30m last year, but has been struggling for form in Serie A, and has yet to hit the back of the net in the Italian top-flight.

The 22-year-old Portuguese international has been a regular in the Europa League, and netted a few in that competition, but Gennaro Gattuso could well let the striker go out on loan from the San Siro club, and a move to south Wales is albeit unlikely, but certainly not out of the question.

Ironically, it would appear that Swansea's main rival for Silva's signature is tonight's FA Cup opponents Wolves, who are aiming to continue their dominance in the Championship with another big-money signing, but Silva may opt for Premier League football over second-tier action, and if he were to move, could opt for the Liberty Stadium.

Kevin Gameiro

Atletico Madrid have attacking options that Swansea City could only dream of, and with Diego Costa now assisting Antoine Griezmann at the business end of the pitch for the Spanish side, then it has meant Kevin Gameiro's game time has been reduced, and talks have reportedly taken place between the Swans and the French striker.

A big-money signing from Sevilla, Gameiro will be looking to get more action on the pitch, and he is one that is certainly on Carvalhal's radar, as the new boss tries to mastermind a path away from the relegation zone.

Nicolas Gaitan

As well as Gameiro, Nicolas Gaitan is another striking option Atletico have at their disposal, and the Swans have enquired about the Argentine possibly moving away from the La Liga club, and he is another firmly on Carvalhal's transfer target list.

29-year-old Gaitan has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs, including Everton, West Ham United and Southampton, and he could cost in the region of £25m, but he would certainly strengthen a forward line of Tammy Abraham and Wilfried Bony, who have struggled to try of late to help Swansea away from the bottom three.

Andre Ayew

Over the last few weeks, Andre Ayew has been constantly linked with a return to the Liberty Stadium, as he has fallen out of favour with David Moyes at West Ham United, and the play is actively searching for a move away from the London Stadium.

But, while he would be a strong addition to the Swans, he will need to compromise on his wage demands, as he was on a lot of money before his move away from the Welsh club, and now finds himself earning a lot more at West Ham, so there will need to be some strong negotiations between Ayew and Swansea, should he return to the club.
