Manchester United fans have had a happier Christmas than they could have imagined at the start of Advent.
Jose Mourinho's dismissal - followed by the return of Reds legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the interim manager - has given United fans something to smile about.
In this afternoon's game against Bournemouth, a superb bit of skill from Marcus Rashford had the Stretford End on its feet and fans waxing lyrical. It would be doing Rashford a diservice to call it simply an assist as he laid a goal on a plate for Paul Pogba in the early stages of the encounter.
Rashford chased the ball out wide, bringing it under his control with his back to goal but looking dangerously close to the sideline.
He then turned smartly, delicately nudged the ball to the side of Bournemouth's Nathan Ake, then got around the other.
Rashford then sent Diego Rico up a blind alley with a superb touch then delivered perfect pass for Pogba to slide in and score from two yards out.
Pogba - so often a divisive figure at Old Trafford during Mourinho's reign - also added a second goal before half-time. United's interim coach Solskjaer was seen to mouth "what a goal" as the cameras showed him celebrating with first team coach Mike Phelan. Sir Alex Ferguson, watching on from the Old Trafford stands, clearly enjoyed the goal too which had fans in good voice - something we've not been able to say too many times this season.
The half ended 3-1 with Rashford scoring United's third goal and Ake getting one back for the Cherries in first time stoppage time.
