The Astonishing Moment Carefree Kangaroo Grounds Football Match To A Halt

We’re used to seeing the odd pitch invader, political protester, streaker, general moron, or all of the above bring football games week-in, week-out to temporary halts and sometimes the odd general disrepute but a recent football match taking place had to be stopped due to a fairly unique pitch-invader.

A kangaroo, not content as many of us aren't with watching from the sidelines, proceeded to stroll down the bleachers, towards the corner flag, around the pitch before settling in net. A few shots were directed towards the goal the ‘roo had made it’s own but it did well to keep a clean-sheet.

For those maybe a bit slow on the uptake, that football match of course took place in Australia, during a game between Belconnen United and Canberra.

Officials tried to resume the match but the defiant marsupial refused to co-operate, continuously entering and exiting the field of play an, as the commentator exclaims, ‘scattering players left and right’.

Within the video, demonstrating exhilarating pace to put a young Theo Walcott in the shade but just about as good on the ball as a more recent Theo Walcott, the kangaroo darts around the field without consideration for the perplexed players dotted around the pitch.

The animal eventually retreats when security intervenes and the game continues after half an hour of stoppage.

Reports that the kangaroo proved to be a better stop-stopper than Claudio Bravo are still unconfirmed, although West Ham are said to be interested.

Belconnen eventually ran out 2-0 winners.
