English football appears to be blessed with genuinely exciting attacking talent at the moment as Raheem Sterling continues to flourish for Manchester City, Jadon Sancho has sparkled for Borussia Dortmund and Wolverhampton Wanderers might have uncovered a gem for the future if Niall Ennis's stunning strike on Friday night is anything to go by.
The 19-year-old, who can also play international football for Jamaica, scored the winning goal for Wolves in their Under-23 match against Manchester United at Molineux, unleashing an absolute stunner to give the Black Country outfit a 2-1 win as they moved to the top of the PL2 Division Two table.
There appeared to be little danger when Ennis picked up the ball on the left-hand side of the pitch and he had plenty to do from inside his own half. However, he drove forward with purpose, poise and pace as he drifted from the left-wing towards the edge of the penalty area, before unleashing an unstoppable strike into the top corner - See the goal in full further down this page.
It was a goal worthy of winning any game of football at any level and if left the Wolves Under-23 manager, Rob Edwards, purring with delight.
Speaking to the Express And Star, Edwards said:
"It was outstanding. I thought he was brilliant.
"The goal was one of the best I've seen live – it was that good.
"He deserved it. His all-round game was brilliant, everything was on point with him – his work-rate, aggression and touch.
It was a wonderful moment for Ennis, who has struggled with a couple of long-term injuries during this formative stages of his career and Wolves fans will be hoping he can build on his impressive goalscoring display on Friday night - see the stunning goal in all of its glory in the video below...
