Alvaro Morata's torrid time at Chelsea could be one step closer to coming to an end after Barcelona decided to sell forward Munir El Haddadi to fellow La Liga club Sevilla.
El Haddadi's exit for under £1m has now left a gap for Barca boss Ernesto Valverde to fill in his attacking line, and it could be that Morata heads to the Camp Nou to try and recapture his best form.
Since moving to Chelsea, Morata has struggled to become the Blues main attacking threat and he has often been forced to battle it out with Olivier Giroud for a starting berth, while on occasions Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has elected to play Eden Hazard as the primary attacking outlet and Morata and Giroud have been forced to watch on from the sidelines.
In what could only be a possible loan move, Morata could be a leading target for Barcelona, who now only have Luis Suarez as their only natural experienced striker, although let's not forget that Lionel Messi is certainly not to be ignored, although his floating style often sees him heading into midfield to collect the ball.
Tottenham Hotspur's Fernando Llorente is also a potential striking option for the Spanish giants, but Morata is surely more of an attractive proposition for the La Liga heavyweights, as he can play as a forward alongside Suarez with Messi playing a free role in behind.
Sarri may bide his time with letting Morata leave, as he may look to strengthen in the attacking area before the January transfer window shuts, but now El Haddadi has left Barcelona then Morata's move to Spain could be little closer than it was a few days ago.
