The Premier League title hopes of Liverpool took a huge blow on Sunday as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Everton and Mo Salah was the centre of attention as he produced yet another disappointing performance
The Reds forward - who has now scored one goal in his last six league games - came in for some scathing criticism from Twitter users and Liverpool fans as he missed several chances during the course of a nervy Merseyside derby at Goodison Park. Liverpool are still only two points behind league leaders Manchester City but that hasn't stopped Salah being ravaged on social media.
There were some unfair comparisons as Salah was compared to the former Arsenal forward, Gervinho, who was infamous for his poor touch and poor returns in front of goal.
Mo Salah is just the Egyptian Gervinho with a bad touch #EVELIV [@SonOfGervinho]
While another compared him to another of his bemoaned Egyptian colleagues...
Rah Salah actually is Michu [@Official Vizeh]
The 26-year-old has been criticised for failing to produce the goods when it matters. The Egyptian forward has scored 16 goals in 32 appearances against Liverpool's fellow traditional 'Big Six' Premier League teams in all competitions.
Salah bottling another big chance in a big game, shocked. [@Markabochi]
Salah missed a guilt-edged chance to put Liverpool ahead in the first-half as Jordan Pickford denied him.
Plenty were questioning whether Salah, who has scored one goal in three appearances against Everton in the Merseyside derby, is actually as good as many people make out.
Salah is overrated #EVELIV [@NikolayNikov]
Memories are short nowadays of course as it should not be forgotten that Salah scored 32 league goals last season and has helped himself to 17 this term.
Salah is average honestly [@CofEnugu]
Others were questioning why Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, didn't substitute his leading goalscorer from the past two seasons...
Why is Klopp so weak to sub Salah?#EVELIV [@JamesDeGouveia]
Whereas others wanted to credit the performance of Everton defender Kurt Zouma...
Zouma single handedly pocketing Mo Salah Most underrated CB in the world. [@Forward100]
The Sportsman's very own social account took delight in past comparisons that suggested Salah was as good as Lionel Messi.
