The trailer for the new Creed film, Creed II, starring Michael B. Jordan and Rocky legend Sylvester Stallone, has just been released and it promises to be an absolutely superb return to the series.

The first film in the revamped series received unanimous acclaim, a fantastic throw-back to the earlier classic films in the Rocky series whilst landing it’s own individual blow as a brilliantly entertaining sports film.

Whilst Creed’s primary antagonist was three-time ABA heavyweight champion and life-long Everton fan Tony Bellew, the second film in the new series sees the return and resurgence of one Ivan Drago from Rocky IV and his son throwing up a new challenge to Adonis Creed (Jordan) and his trainer Rocky Balboa (Stallone).

Cut to the pumping Kendrick Lamar song ‘DNA’, which is bound to get the heart pumping and expectations soaring, the trailer seems to pick up soon after the events of the first film, and closes with the tantalising and teasing reveal of Drago Jr. in the ring.

The official synopsis for the film reads

Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. Facing an opponent with ties to his family’s past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring. Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what’s worth fighting for, and discover that nothing’s more important than family. Creed II is about going back to basics to rediscover what made you a champion in the first place, and remembering that, no matter where you go, you can’t escape your history.

Rocky IV produced the immortal line ‘I must break you’. This trailer might just break the internet.

You can watch the trailer below. Creed II is released on 21st November 2018.
