There’s a whole swell of cynicism that surrounds the international break from those desperate for the domestic league to return.
It does offer an opportunity for old friends (and foes) on the international stage to catch up again, and it was certainly something that EA Sports and the Scotland National Team decided to take full advantage of.
After being called up by coach Alex McLeish, EA dragged Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson and West Ham’s Robert Snodgrass into a do-or-die FIFA match with compatriots Scott McTominay, of Manchester United, and Kilmarnock’s Stephen O’Donnell.
Jokes and banter are abound, with O’Donnell producing the cracker that his back is aching from having to carry United midfielder McTominay.
Robertson of course opts for his side to be Liverpool and they take on Ligue 1 champs Paris Saint-Germain.
Snodgass immediately points to his teammate’s pockets and indicates that is where PSG stars Kylian Mbappe and Neymar will soon be.
Robertson of course has come up against the power-duo recently, in Liverpool’s 3-2 win in the Champions League at Anfield, with the Scotsman more than holding his own.
Snodgrass - by far the most vocal in the motley crew of Scotsmen here - also echoes the voice of the nation that Reds hero James Milner should without a doubt be the first name on the team-sheet.
What’s the final outcome of this grudge match? Take a look at the video below to find out.
Scotland next play Israel away in the UEFA Nations League and then take on Portugal in an international friendly at Hampden Park this coming Sunday.
FIFA 18 champions @andrewrobertso5 and @robsnodgrass7 take on challengers @mctominay10 and Stephen O'Donnell.
Who will lift the #FIFA19 title? 🤔
