If there’s one podcast that’s been the talk of the audio town of late, it’s The High Performance Podcast And if there’s one podcast you need to listen to right now, right away (although, please don’t stop reading just yet), it’s The High Performance Podcast.
Presented by well-known, highly visible sports personality Jake Humphrey, aka the hardest working man in sports media, and leading organisational psychologist Professor Damian Hughes, The High Performance Podcast ‘offers an intimate glimpse into the lives of high-achieving, successful individuals’.
“It doesn’t matter where our guest has excelled,” they state, “In sport, music, business or entertainment – they all have first-hand experiences and lessons to share. Find out what non-negotiable behaviours they employed to get them to the top, and keep them there.”
“The High Performance Podcast isn't about sport,” says Jake, “It's about life.”
That ethos is most certainly reflected in the eclectic cast of characters across the nearly 30 episodes that are currently available. Into its third season in less than a year, new guests that have so far been interviewed include Liverpool’s Champions League-winning captain Steven Gerrard, British racing driver Billy ‘Billy Whizz’ Monger, and Academy Award-winning actor Matthew ‘Alright, alright, alright’ McConaughey.
Some of the former figures to have featured have been Jonny Wilkinson candidly discussing how a mental health crisis led to a life of exploration, Man Utd gaffer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on arguably the toughest job in football, and Tracey Neville advocating how sacrifice leads to success.
As an entrance, the two previous series have also provided helpful closing ‘roundups’ of the content throughout the previous episodes that season. Each episode typically lasts between three quarters of an hour and 70 minutes, and is released weekly.
Highly rated, a high calibre of guest, and highly entertaining, The High Performance Podcast should be at the very top of your pod subscriptions list. It can be found on their website, YouTube channel, and Apple podcasts.
