It is Magic Weekend in the Betfred Super League this weekend and its a sporting event that is not quite like any other. All 12 Super League sides gather in the wonderful city of Newcastle for a truly special few days of action.
We have a Hull derby to look forward to on Sunday night, league leaders St Helens take on second place Wigan Warriors in what should be an epic meeting and potentially a Grand Final prelude - while Toulouse Olympique vs Wakefield Trinity could have huge implications at the bottom of the table.
To preview Magic Weekend, the Last Tackle boys were on top form as they ran through what we can expect at St James’ Park. Host Mark Pearson was joined in the studio by Paul Sculthorpe and Kevin Brown, while there are also interviews from the Wakefield, Wigan, Castleford, Salford, Warrington, and Hull KR camps.

“I love it,” Brown explains in the opening moments of the show. “You feel a bit of a fraud as a player because it is like a final without doing anything to get there. It’s brilliant. I mean ever since they brought it in it has really worked. I think that is one thing our sport has over others. Everyone gets on, it is a party atmosphere - a lot of stag dos, and as players, it is such a great atmosphere.”
“Yep fantastic and up in Newcastle, what a city,” Paul Sculthorpe adds. Great atmosphere and like Kev says, for some of the players in those clubs that don’t make those finals, it is like one of those occasions - playing in front of big crowds and obviously with all twelve teams playing in one city over one weekend - it is fantastic.”
