Can you feel it? The magic that surrounds the FA Cup has begun as the draw for the extra preliminary and preliminary rounds have been made.

The FA Cup is the biggest domestic cup competition in football and it doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from, you know exactly what it is and are infatuated with it when it’s on the television, regardless of whether your team is playing or not.

It serves up fairytales, shocks, heartbreak and more and that is what makes it the great product that it is. While the magic of the cup doesn’t hit the Football League until November, non-league fans will get to experience it in just a few weeks as they hope and dream of the chance of a spectacular run that delivers them a stellar, once in a lifetime tie, whether that be any professional club in the top four tiers.

Now that the supporters of these clubs know who they will be facing in the extra preliminary and preliminary rounds, they can start to plan for the very first day of the FA Cup calendar of 2022-23. Two of the notable teams featured in the extra preliminary draw are Bury AFC, the phoenix club formed after Bury FC were expelled from the EFL in 2019, and Macclesfield Town.

Bury AFC have been drawn away against Hallam and Macclesfield, who are also on the road, will face Wythenshawe Town. All the 208 fixtures in the extra preliminary round will take place on Saturday 6 August while the 136 preliminary round matches will be played on Saturday 20 August.
