The NFL draft always comes with a healthy dose of fanfare, pomp and Hollywood-style storylines, and the 2018 edition was no different thanks to the Dallas Cowboys-baiting David Akers.
The former Philadelphia Eagles kicker took to the stage at the draft to announce the Eagles' second-round pick - tight end Dallas Goedert - not before unleashing a remarkable and comedic tirade against the Dallas Cowboys at the AT&T Stadium.
Akers was relentlessly booed by Cowboys fans as he listed off the Philadelphia Eagles' accomplishments from last season, including their division title, a conference title and of course their Super Bowl success.
“And World Champs!” Akers hollered. “The world champs! Hey Dallas, the last time you were in the Super Bowl, these draft picks weren’t born!”
He wasn't finished there as he continued to mock the Cowboys in their own stadium, including a timely reminder of their own long Championship drought - it's pushing on beyond 20 years now.
Akers was delivering a little bit of retribution for last season's draft as Cowboys great Drew Pearson made fun of the Eagles in front of Philly fans on their own patch twelve months ago.
Pearson's show proved to be the most entertaining part of the whole draft in 2017 and Akers stole the show at the home of the Dallas Cowboys on Friday night. It is fair to say that Cowboys fans weren't impressed and hopefully Akers made it out of the stadium unscathed!
