The Moment Ricciardo Crashed Into His Red Bull Teammate At The Azerbaijan Grand Prix

A teammate in Formula One is unlike in any other sport. Rather than helping one another to go on and achieve great things for your team, it is often okay to bash, barge and generally scupper one another.

The latest pairing to produce a comical, and highly dangerous, high-speed clash are Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku.

The pair had been going hammers and tongs against one another all afternoon and things finally came to a head when they were battling it out for fourth place.

Ricciardo decided that cruising along at 180mph at Turn 1 of the 40th lap was the perfect opportunity to try and dive down the inside of his 'teammate' but he broke late and ended up ramming into the back of Verstappen's car. Disaster for the Red Bull team as the crash ended both drivers' races and it is fair to assume that there were a few crossed words, as well as repercussions, when they finally got back into the paddock.

In a highly dramatic race, Lewis Hamilton finished as the winner, ahead of Kimi Raikkonen (2nd) and Sergio Perez (3rd). It was an unlikely podium in the end as Sebastian Vettel locked up and went wide when tussling with Hamilton to eventually finish fourth, while Valtteri Bottas suffered a flat tyre when he seemingly had the race at his mercy.

What a race! And don't forget to watch the full incident involving the pair of Red Bull drivers below...
