The Sportsman - in association with Betfred - brings you the need-to-know betting preview ahead of the must-watch bout between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury.
The fight, which is taking place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Saturday night will see who will be the WBC Heavyweight Champion; whether it is retained by the American ‘Bronze Bomber’ Wilder or challenger Fury.
Our man in the field Mark Gatford has been given privileged access and spoken to Fury’s man in the corner Freddie Roach, promoter Frank Warren, trainer Ben Davison, and the man himself.
The suggestion is there that a knockout by the Englishman could well be on the cards. Betfred however, plant that result at 11/2, the same price you can get for a Wilder points-decision.
As addressed in our betting preview, which is available to watch below, Fury has a three-stone weight advantage on Wilder. At the weigh-in this week - the last time the two pugilists will have faced each other before Saturday evening clash - Fury registered 256 pounds. Wilder came in 212 and a half, 44 pounds lighter.
For a man whose reputation has been predominantly built on shocking the world after a decisive victory over Wladimir Klitschko at the tail end of 2015, it’s well within the Mancunian Fury’s right to do so again. A Tyson points win is currently at 9/5.
You can also get 11/10 for the fight going the distance, although the market is massively in favour of a Wilder finish; the most likely scenario is a middle-round drop. Rounds 6, 7, & 8 can all be found at 12/1, with five of Wilder’s last seven knockouts coming in round eight or later.
