The schedule for the Third Round of the Betfred Challenge Cup has been confirmed and The Sportsman are delighted to announce that we will be bringing you the mouthwatering clash between York City Knights and Wigan Warriors exclusively, live and free on our website, YouTube and Facebook channels on Friday, April 9.
Last weekend, we brought you an exclusive second round double-header as Widnes Vikings hammered Whitehaven 34-10 and Featherstone Rovers came out on top in the West Yorkshire derby against Batley Bulldogs and we’re sure the entertainment will be just as brilliant in the next phase of the competition. We pledge to continue to bring you live rugby league games as well as excellent coverage.
Kris Voakes of The Sportsman said: “This is a huge opportunity for the Sportsman. Not only will we be showing live Betfred Challenge Cup games but we’ll also have features and we hope to showcase Rugby League to a wider audience.”
The Third Round will begin with an all-Super League tie between Hull KR and Castleford Tigers, a repeat of the 1986 Wembley final, kicking off at 6pm on Friday April 9, which will be followed by York City Knights vs Wigan Warriors live on The Sportsman at 7.45pm.
On Saturday, April 10, Salford Red Devils host Widnes before Betfred Super League champions St Helens and the Challenge Cup holders Leeds Rhinos clash at the Totally Wicked Stadium. Catalan Dragons then welcome Wakefield Trinity before Featherstone Rovers vs Hull FC conclude the day. The following day’s action sees Swinton Lions take on Warrington Wolves and Leigh Centurions up against Huddersfield Giants.
