''They Want To Lose'' - Liverpool Legend Claims Everton Want To Scupper Reds' Title Bid Against Manchester City

Do Everton fans want their team to win Wednesday night's Premier League clash with Manchester City? Twitter is rife with suggestions that the Toffees would rather lose to City so that the Citizens can move ahead of Everton's great rivals, Liverpool, in the league table.

Liverpool currently sit atop the division but a win for City on Merseyside on Wednesday evening would see Pep Guardiola's men go top on goal difference, albeit Liverpool would still have a game in hand.

It leaves Everton fans with a tricky dilemma it seems as they ponder the prospect of helping Liverpool win a first English top-flight title since 1990.

Former Liverpool player, Jamie Carragher, has claimed Everton fans he has spoken to want their team to lose in order to help to scupper Liverpool's chances of winning the league.

Carragher Tweeted...

Well every blue I know as said they WANT to lose! Everton always lose at Goodison against United/City when either are going for the league.

Many Everton fans reacted by claiming that they want their team to win at Goodison Park, although whether their team is good enough is another matter entirely.

It begs the question as to whether Everton actually have any choice in whether they lose this game of football. This Toffees side have won just four of their past fourteen matches in all competitions, drawing two and losing eight, to leave manager Marco Silva under immense pressure.

Everton have lost their last two meetings with City by 3-1 scorelines and it is no surprise to see that the Citizens are odds-on favourites for another win that would take them top of the league.

The build-up to the game is likely to be dominated by talk of whether Everton will actually try and TalkSPORT radio added to the discussion amid claims that "Everton would probably boo the team if they win!"...
