Three Convincing Reasons Why Liverpool Will Scoop The Premier League Title In May

Liverpool fans are already dreaming of winning their first title since 1990 and their first since the Premier League was formed. The Reds currently hold a four-point lead at the top of the table, with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City the team hot on their tails. The captivating 2-1 win at the Etihad prevented the Citizens from falling further behind and gave them a real chance of overhauling Jurgen Klopp’s side. However, it simply isn’t going to happen, here are three reasons why it will be the Red half of Merseyside celebrating at the end of the season.

Jurgen Klopp

The gaffer is keeping his feet firmly on the ground and has won league titles before. In successive years in Germany, he won the Bundesliga, before the big spending Bayern Munich asserted their current dominance on domestic football with six league titles in a row.

Klopp continues to impress at every turn. In press conferences, he continues to keep his players focused on the next game and so far they have taken every game as it comes, to use the old cliche. The manager will be vital in the run-in and he will have to eek every ounce of effort out of his players if they are to secure this title.

Learning from past title chances

Cast your mind back to 2013/14 and Liverpool were playing some of the most exciting football that the Premier League has ever seen. Luis Suarez was simply sensational that season but yet the club got swept up in the hysteria and blew it. Steven Gerrard famously slipped against Chelsea and Jose Mourinho pulled off a masterful display at Anfield to give City the upper hand in the title race and they went on to win it by two points.

Liverpool, the fans included, must not get hysterical when it comes to the crunch time in the final few games. The fans and pundits will have learned from what happened five years ago and must keep their expectations down even when they come within three games of winning the title. Jurgen Klopp will play a big role in managing expectations.

Kind Fixture List

We may be looking far ahead now but Liverpool’s last few fixtures of the Premier League season have fallen incredibly kindly and if they are still in top spot heading into their final four games they will be in with a great chance of lifting the big trophy. Cardiff, Huddersfield, Newcastle, and Wolves are their final four games of the season and even in their final eight games, they only play Tottenham and Chelsea from the top six. Both of those games are at home and the Anfield atmosphere could give them a significant edge as they push towards the title.
