Toby Alderweireld Returns For Tottenham As Dele Alli Misses Out v Brighton
19:01, 17 Apr 2018

Contract rebel Toby Alderweireld has been put back into the starting XI by Mauricio Pochettino who has rested a few key men ahead of Spurs' FA Cup semi-final on Saturday. Lucas Moura has been awarded with a start whilst Dele Alli and Moussa Dembele both miss out. Hugo Lloris starts in goal behind a back four of Serge Aurier, Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Ben Davies. Victor Wanyama and Moussa Sissoko anchor the midfield whilst the attacking talents of Lucas, Son, Eriksen and Kane will hope to run riot. Harry Kane is still in with a chance of winning the golden boot but will need to score a couple tonight to be in with a realistic chance. For Brighton, Anthony Knockaert and captain Bruno come back into the side as they look to take a big step towards survival. Glenn Murray starts up front with the dangerous Pascal Gross in behind him.Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy are trusted at the back to keep Kane quiet. Fourth-placed Tottenham travel to the south coast to take on a Brighton side who are within touching distance of Premier League survival. The Seagulls currently lie on 35 points, seven clear of relegation dwellers Southampton and Stoke. A win tonight would put them into 11th place and surely safe from the drop, although they do face a tough run-in. They face Burnley followed by the current top three, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool as they strive towards that magical forty-point mark. Meanwhile, Tottenham will have half an eye on their huge FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United on Saturday, having all but secured a Champions League place in the Premier League. They lie seven points clear of London rivals Chelsea with five games to play so the league may be put on the backburner as they look to secure their first silverware in a decade.
