Tottenham look set to splash the cash finally with Mauricio Pochettino interested in signing Eric Bailly from Manchester United according to the latest reports.

The Daily Express are reporting that the Man United outcast is top of the shopping list for Spurs as they look to strengthen up a squad which is starting to look a touch thin on the ground.

Pochettino and Spurs kept their wallet firmly shut during the summer, much to the frustration of their fans, but the purse strings now look set to be loosened ahead of the move to the new stadium.

Bailly has enjoyed a mixed spell at United since arriving from Villarreal for £30m in 2016 and it could be that he decides to look for a fresh start after a difficult last six months.

Jose Mourinho has appeared to lose faith in a player he bought to the club and Tottenham are ready to pounce according to this latest story.

The 24-year-old was hauled off in the first half of the match against Newcastle at the weekend and there are now fears that he is going to struggle to resurrect his Manchester United career, especially whilst the Portuguese gaffer remains in charge.

Tottenham may want to make a move for the player in January with injury doubts surrounding Jan Vertonghen and contract issues still lingering with Toby Alderweirald. Bailly certainly wouldn't come cheap given his undoubted long term potential but it does feel the right time for the north London club to finally splash the cash as they look to avoid losing ground to the top two or three teams in the Premier League table.
