Trainer's Only Runner Of The Day Can Win At Taunton

Trainer's Only Runner Of The Day Can Win At Taunton

Today marks just three weeks until the start of the Cheltenham Festival but we have three excellent jumps meetings to get stuck into today.

There's fixtures from Taunton and Wetherby as well as action from across the Irish sea from Clonmel. My selection today comes from down in Somerset where I'm fancying Richard Newland's only runner of the day to claim a victory in the 15:45.

The horse in question is CAID DU LIN a six-year-old son of Della Francesca has run in graded company on his last two starts which have both been at Ascot. The latest of those was in the Ascot Spring Garden Hurdle a month ago where he was pulled up after making several mistakes. The trip of 2m3f seemed to be too far for him that day and he drops back down to a much more manageable distance today of 2m1f.

He was a winner back in October over today's distance at Fontwell in a Class 3 hurdle off a mark of 127 before running in a listed race at Sandown and finishing second off a mark of 132. I feel that this pieces of form is key for today's race with Caid Du Lin now rated just 1lb higher at 133. Today's race sees just seven runners go to post and at the current price of 4/1 I'm more than willing to take a chance on this gelding. Trainer Richard Newland's horses have been running well of late with him having a 38% strike rate over the past two weeks and with this being his only runner of the day I'm hoping for a very positive performance.
