Two Premier League Clubs Chasing Stoke City's Bojan Krkic

Bojan Krkic could be set for a summer move, as I understand the prospect has become likely with two Premier League clubs interested in signing the Stoke City striker.

Bojan is keen on a switch from Stoke, who he joined in 2014 after stints at Roma, AC Milan and Barcelona where he developed as a youngster.

In January, Bojan joined Bundesliga side Mainz 05 on loan for the remainder of the 2016-17 season, yet despite starting Stoke’s opening game of the Premier League against Everton, he looks destined for a permanent move elsewhere.

It is believed that Hughes was anxious to convince Bojan there has been a U-turn in the club’s thinking from January when he was allowed to leave on loan. The manager’s objective was the restore the Spaniard to former glories, but he now faces losing the player.

Quite clearly, the Potters don’t want to lose Bojan. The club has already lost key attacking players this summer with Marko Arnautovic signing for West Ham United, and their all-time top goalscorer in the Premier League, Jonathan Walters, now at Burnley.

If Stoke can fight off interest from fellow Premier League clubs, Hughes will want one last throw of the dice from Bojan, especially as competition for players among his play-making talents has never been so light with Ibrahim Afellay’s fitness still a concern following knee surgery in April.

But to think that someone who has played for the likes of Barcelona, AS Roma, AC Milan, and Ajax, and is still only 26, could face such a crossroads in their career is unimaginable.

Bojan is contracted to Stoke until the summer of 2020 but with significant interest from Leicester City and another Premier League club, along with a £10million buyout clause, the player is weighing up his options.

Leicester have already signed Kelechi Iheanacho from Manchester City, for a reported £25 million fee, but with Riyad Mahrez’s future still in the balance, The Foxes may well trigger Bojan’s release clause as they continue to seek goals throughout the new season.

That said, there is another Premier League club with their finger on the pulse.
