Arsenal boss Unai Emery has confirmed the club are interested in Denis Suarez from Barcelona but any move is likely to be on loan.
Speaking the reporters ahead of Saturday's trip to West Ham, Emery said: “I don’t know about his situation. But we can only sign players on loan. I know the club is working to find players who can help us, with this condition. I know these players and they are very good players. But I cannot sign more.”
Suarez, who has played for Emery at Sevilla, was left out of Barcelona's squad for last Sunday's win over Getafe on Sunday night and wants to play for him again.
Emery was also asked about Ever Banega, a player he has worked within the past at Sevilla. “I know this player, he is a very good player," said Emery. 'Now I can’t say more.”
The Arsenal boss was also non-committal when asked about the future of Aaron Ramsey who is expected to sign a pre-contract agreement with Juventus. The Welsh midfielder is out of contract in the summer and Turin appears to be his favoured destination.
Emery explained: "It’s an individual situation rather than the team. My idea and focus, I say to him every day, is that we need his performance for us. In the last match I was very happy with him.
"I asked in the last match at Blackpool if he is okay to help us play and he said, ‘Yeah, coach, I want to play” and he played with a very big behaviour and commitment to us.
"After, his future belongs to him, his family and agent. Every day he’s here with us, he’s working very well. I want his behaviour and his focus to be on West Ham on Saturday."
