Unai Emery Rubbishes Rumours Mauricio Pochettino Will Dump Tottenham For Manchester United

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur clash for the second time in three weeks tonight when they go head-to-head at the Emirates for a place in the semi-finals of the League Cup.

Mauricio Pochettino's future at Tottenham has dominated the build-up to the cup clash, but while Man Utd have today announced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their interim manager, rumours are rife that the club will target Pochettino in the summer as Jose Mourinho's permanent replacement - he's the 6/4 favourite in the betting.

However, one Premier League manager who doesn't think that the switch makes any sense is Arsenal boss Unai Emery, who believes his friend is in a far better position at Spurs.

"I think he's very happy at Tottenham,” said Emery, in quotes from The Independent.

“I think he's coaching a very big team with very big players and now they are in the Champions League they are also in a better position in the Premier League than Manchester United.

“I think his performance at Tottenham is very big. I don't know if he's thinking to change for another club, but I am looking at him with a very big commitment to Tottenham and he's creating a good performance a good idea at Tottenham. Tottenham improved a lot with him.”

There you have it, an Arsenal manager backing a Spurs boss. We never thought we'd see the day.

Of course the duo go way back from their time in Spain, but it was Emery who came out on top during their first encounter in the Premier League, as his Arsenal side came back from 2-1 down to win 4-2 earlier this month.

Arsenal are now priced at 6/4 to progress with a win in 90 minutes on Wednesday night, with Spurs available at 15/8, while a draw can be backed at 13/5.
