Valencia are being linked with a move to sign Timothy Fosu-Mensah from Manchester United this summer.
Super Deporte are reporting that the La Liga club are eager to bring the 20-year-old defender to La Liga on loan, but with a view to a permanent signing.
United and Valencia are in talks according to the Daily Express but a deal is yet to be struck. Valencia are desperate to add in a view to purchase option on the deal, but United are reluctant to wave goodbye to one of their best young talents at this stage of his development.
Fosu-Mensah enjoyed a terrific loan spell at Crystal Palace last term and Jose Mourinho is looking for a similar deal this season if these latest reports are to be believed.
The Man United squad is currently well stocked in the right-back area with Antonio Valencia, Matteo Darmian and Diogo Dalot currently in the first team picture, which does mean Fosu-Mensah is unlikely to get too much playing time if he does stay at the club. Darmian is however constantly being linked with a move back to Italy which might complicate the issue, but it makes sense for a highly rated player like Fosu-Mensah to search for regular first team football.
It remains to be seen if a deal can be made with Valencia given the quibbles over the view to purchase the player on a permanent basis but it does appear as if Mourinho does want to hold onto the player in the long term.
Antonio Valencia has done a good job at full back in recent years but he isn't getting any younger and the young Dutch defender could yet still have a long term future at Old Trafford.
Imagine the scenes from Utd fans if Jose got rid of Martial and Fosu-Mensah in the same window...
