The euphoria of the derby win will still be flowing through Manchester City fans but Pep Guardiola and his men will already have moved on and be gearing up for their away trip to Swansea.
Defensive issues will be at the centre of Guardiola’s thinking with Vincent Kompany once again going off injured. His substitution at half-time means City only have two fit central defenders with a plethora of games ahead.
Kompany is unlikely to have gone off in such a big game if it was a minor injury and his record suggests another lengthy spell on the sidelines is coming.
That means it falls to Nicolas Otamendi and Eliaquim Mangala to see the blues through the next few games and City fans will be hoping John Stones is not far from a return following the hamstring injury he suffered against Leicester a month ago.
Pep is certain to rotate and there should be a start for Sergio Aguero who played no part in the derby (he will be hurting). Danilo, who was poor in his last outing against Shakhtar Donetsk, may get a match ahead of Kyle Walker but other than that it is difficult to see too much changing for City.
Bernardo Silva played well in his cameo at Old Trafford (despite missing the chance to add gloss to the scoreline with a one-on-one with De Gea) and may also get a start and Yaya Toure will also be hoping for some minutes.
One area Guardiola will want to see an improvement is in the goal scoring charts. While he will take any win any game, City have won their last four Premier League games by one goal.
Swansea are struggling at the foot of the table and Pep will be hoping his frontline can return to their early season exploits when they were scoring for fun.
Saturday’s 1-0 win over West Brom will have buoyed the Swans faithful and City can expect much of the same as they received from Southampton, Huddersfield and West Ham when they visit Wales on Wednesday. They may have to dig deep again.
