Robert Walford's Walk In The Mill was a superb winner of the 2018 Becher Handicap Chase at Aintree and the eight-year-old was cut from 66/1 to 25/1 for the Grand National in April.
A star-studded field went to post for the National trial with previous winners Vieux Lion Rouge and Blaklion looking to bag glory in the showpiece event again, but they faced a whole host of exciting staying chasers and they served up a memorable finish.
Call It Magic and Missed Approach were a few lengths clear of the field as the race going into the closing stages, but the latter of that pair failed to maintain the gallop as they turned for home.
Ross O'Sullivan's Call It Magic was maintaining the lead as the field faced the last obstacle, but on his outside Walk In The Mill was getting himself into contention, while dual Topham Chase winner Ultragold and the aforementioned Vieux Lion Rouge were also in with a challenge as they approached the elbow.
However, it was James Best on board Walk In The Mill who managed to just manufacture a two-length lead and while Vieux Lion Rouge stayed on in eye-catching fashion late on it was 10/1 shot Walk In The Mill that landed the victory and he threw his name into the Grand National picture.
Instantly cut by the bookmakers for the April 6 National, Walk In The Mill is now a 25/1 shot alongside last year's hero Tiger Roll and 2017 winner One For Arthur, who made his comeback on the same card at Aintree this afternoon and that will be another notable Racing Result to keep an eye out for.
