15:59, 19 Sep 2017
Dolan - who turned eighteen today - was competing in Bergen, Norway in the junior women's individual time trial at the 2017 UCI Road World Championships.
Having completed roughly half of the course, she came unstuck and was thrown over her handlebars, and suffered a serious injury to her right thigh.
In an incredible act of bravery, she recovered to remount, complete the race and finish a respectable 27th place.
To everyone for all your kind well wishes. I can't thank you enough. I'm recovering well from surgery in hospital so should be home soon!2/2
So only just saw this but Lauren Dolan did incredibly well to finish only 2'24 down today after her crash. These girls are tough! pic.twitter.com/5uoZLrm6MQ
