Watch Out Ole! Sir Alex Ferguson Set To Make Sensational Return To Manchester United Dugout In Legends Match

Sir Alex Ferguson could be set to make a memorable return to the Manchester United dugout as the club prepares to mark the 20th anniversary of their famous Champions League triumph over Bayern Munich with an iconic rematch featuring legends from both teams.

The Sun reports that Man Utd are eager to organise the clash for 26 May 2019, 20 years on from 'that night' at the Nou Camp when they conjured up one of the most compelling comebacks in Champions League history.

United looked to be heading for a painful defeat following Mario Basler’s early opener, but in true Fergie fashion they refused to give up and stunned the German giants with two quick-fire injury-time goals, courtesy of Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The game-winner on that occasion is of course now at the helm himself, having taken over from Jose Mourinho last month on a short-term contract through to the end of the season. The Norwegian has since enjoyed a cracking start to life as Man Utd manager, accumulating five wins from five league and cup matches.

The Baby Faced Assassin is now one of the favourites for the permanent position, although he could well face some competition from his former gaffer, should Fergie reprise his position and lead the United legends side to victory!

Over the Christmas period Solskjaer invited Ferguson, 77, to Carrington - the club’s training base - to rouse the players ahead of the second-half of the season. It’s so far worked wonders as a number of the underperforming stars have been completely rejuvenated, with the club even scoring five goals in a game for the first time since the Ferguson era.

Should the legends game go ahead, Ottmar Hitzfeld is expected to take charge of Bayern, while legendary ref Pierluigi Collina could be the man in the middle.
