West Ham To Bid £38m For Bayer Leverkusen Winger Julian Brandt

West Ham To Bid £38m For Bayer Leverkusen Winger Julian Brandt
10:00, 09 Aug 2018

A surprising move on this transfer deadline day is emerging as West Ham United are remarkably looking to bid for the highly-rated German international, Julian Brandt. The 22-year-old will cost the London club a pretty penny as they look to stun the rest of the Premier League by bringing in one of the Bundesliga's most promising youngsters.

Understandably, Bayer Leverkusen are not keen to let one of their biggest stars go but West Ham are looking keen to make this deal happen having identified Brandt as an elite player for their side. Leverkusen has been integral to Brandt for his whole career, making 132 senior appearances and scored in 27 goals, but the player who has now developed into one of the Bundesliga’s best, could be half-tempted by the Premier League and the big wages the Hammers could offer.

It is worth remembering that just two months ago, Germany manager Joachim Low put his complete trust in the youngster by surprisingly picking him for his World Cup squad over Manchester City winger Leroy Sane, who was coming into the summer after the most prolific season of his career.

Interestingly, that fact alone shows how highly regarded Brandt is in the footballing world and it would easily be a real coup if Manuel Pellegrini can convince him to join. Having already brought in star names such as Felipe Anderson, Jack Wilshere and Andriy Yarmolenko this summer West Ham have heavily invested in their playing squad and they might not be finished yet.

It will be interesting to see how this one develops throughout the day, but the Hammers are working to a tight deadline as the window closes at 5pm! Follow our coverage here.
