When Cash Out Goes Wrong - How One FA Cup Punter Missed Out On Winning A £292k Acca!

When Cash Out Goes Wrong - How One FA Cup Punter Missed Out On Winning A £292k Acca!
21:29, 06 Jan 2019

The FA Cup weekend has produced some wonderful stories of underdog success as Barnet, Doncaster Rovers, Oldham and Newport County caused some almighty shocks during the third round ties. There were also some happy punters, although one chap was left ruing his decision to 'cash out'...

There was at least one betting success story from the weekend as one lucky punter turned 25p into £564.90 with a five-fold accumulator, although perhaps spare a thought for Mike Newman.

Mike posted his bet slip on his Twitter account [@MikeNewman5] on Sunday as he stated, 'Wish I never cashed out otherwise I’d be 292k up'...

Mike had placed a £5 seven-fold accumulator at odds of 58522/1 as he backed FA Cup wins for Barnet (at pre-match odds of 11/1), Doncaster (13/5), Queens Park Rangers (6/4), Oldham (7/1), Millwall (13/10), Newport (17/2), as well as a draw between Sevilla and Atletico Madid in La Liga (21/10).

A £5 acca would have paid out in the region of £292,615!

All of his picks duly landed as the FA Cup produced some wonderful upsets.

However, unfortunately for Mike he pressed the 'cash out' option with Sky Bet as the games started to get towards Sir Alex Ferguson's 'squeaky bum time'. Mike still ended up with a cool £5,710.25 in his bank account - not bad for a £5 bet - but it could have been so much better.

Spare a thought for Mike and check out his full bet slip below. Would you have held your nerve and waited for the full-times to come in? Or would you have cashed out? Hindsight can be a wonderful thing!
