Eddie Hearn has announced the first tranche of fighters signed to the new DAZN fighting platform in the USA.
The Matchroom boss is making steps into the market stateside with the help of of emerging streaming giant DAZN with the first cards scheduled for later this year.
The new platform will kick off in style for American viewers with the Anthony Joshua v Alexander Povetkin fight on the September 22nd at Wembley Stadium the first event on DAZN.
Fight fans in the UK will be able to watch every single DAZN card on Sky Sports in a boost to their subscription and there are some big names joining Eddie Hearn on his new adventure.
The headline name is Demetrius Andrade who is a two-time light-middleweight world champion and remains unbeaten with a record of 25-0. "Boo Boo" has since moved up to middleweight and has been ordered to fight Billy Joe Saunders for his WBO strap which would make for a fascinating contest for viewers on both sides of the Atlantic.
Other names coming to DAZN include two-weight world champion Jesse Vargas who is fresh off a draw with Adrien Broner, and heavyweight prospect Jarrell " Big Baby" Miller who has made it clear he is desperate for a shot at Anthony Joshua sooner, rather than later.
Miller clashed with Joshua at the DAZN launch press conference and a fight between the pair looks inevitable given the bad blood on display.
Katie Taylor, Daniel Roman, Maurice Hooker and Artur Beterbiev complete the list of fighters to have signed for the new streaming service which it is hoped will revolutionise the way boxing fans watch the sport in the United States.
Anthony Joshua was the star name at the press conference in New York on Tuesday afternoon ahead of his fight with Povetkin, but the hope remains that a fight with Deontay Wilder in April is still a possibility.
There will be 16 shows a year on DAZN through Matchroom with a $9.99 per month subscription fee.
DAZN and Hearn will be hoping they have struck gold with their new venture but only time will tell if this is a flash in the pan or a sign of the future. Ultimately, it will all come down to the fights made and whether the fans feel they are getting value for money, or fobbed off with second rate bouts.
The early signs are promising but Joshua v Wilder in April is a must if DAZN are too muscle their way into the market place with a bang in 2019.
The first DAZN card in the US is scheduled for October 6th with Artur Beterbiev taking on Callum Johnson in Chicago.
