Welcome to day three at Cheltenham Festival and it is St Patrick’s Thursday as we celebrate everything Irish. It was a thrilling day of racing that saw special wins for Impaire Et Passe, Energumene and Delta Work. Today however, the races look wide open, with a long-priced winner looking likely in one of the latter races.
We’ve also got Shishkin and Mighty Potter in action today, and we’ve taken a look at some of the biggest market movers ahead of the first race at 1.30.
Stage Star - 12/1 to 9/1
The money might be on short-priced favourite Mighty Potter here but there’s been an interesting move in the market towards Stage Star. The Paul Nicholls trained horse will be ridden by Harry Cobden and has come in from 12/1 to 9/1. If Appreciate It and Mighty Potter aren’t at the races, he could be the one to pick up the pieces.
2.10 - Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle
Moka De Vassy - 40/1 to 14/1
This massive field could see a long price winner and it is work looking at the each-way markets for this one. Thanksforthehelp currently leads the betting but Moka De Vassy has made a big move, in from 40/1 to 14/1. It feels like a day for the outsiders…
Teahupoo - 7/2 to 5/2
One of the most intriguing races of the day sees Teahupoo take on Blazing Khal and Gold Tweet. The money has surprisingly come in for the favourite, with many believing Gordon Elliott and Davy Russell are in for a successful day. 5/2 to 7/2.
4.10 - Magners Plate Handicap Chase
Haut En Couleurs - 15/2 to 6/1
A huge field of 24 take to the course for the 4.10 which means there are some brilliant odds available if you fancy picking the winner. The money again has moved towards the new favourite, with Haut En Couleurs being back from 15/2 into 6/1. He’s the same price as So Scottish and now leads the market.
Foxy Girl - 16/1 to 11/1
Another tricky one to call with Luccia now 7/4 favourite. It’s another big field and on testing ground Foxy Girl has been backed from 16s to 11s. This could be another big winner…
5.30 - Amatuer Jockey’s Handicap Chase
Dunboyne - 9/1 to 7/1
Dr Kananga - 25/1 to 18/1
The final wide open race of the day comes at 5.30 as the Amateurs take centre stage. Stumptown is current favourite for the final race of day three but Dunboune has come in from 9s to 7s. Dr Kananga, if you fancy a bigger price, is 18s from 25s.
