Why Premier League Fantasy Football Managers MUST Include This Manchester City Forward Ahead Of Clash With Arsenal

A new Premier League season is almost here and Fantasy Football managers around the world are feverishly scouring the statistics in the hope of gaining an advantage on the opening weekend of the campaign. There will be plenty of chopping, changing and tearing of hair, although we have made life easier by finding a trend that makes one Manchester City striker a shoe-in for any Fantasy Football manager...

Sergio Aguero. The Manchester City forward appeared to be on his way out of The Etihad less than twelve months ago as it was clear that Gabriel Jesus was Pep Guardiola's first choice forward and it was difficult to see any way back for the Argentine forward. However, the 30-year-old worked his way back into his manager's plans and he warmed up for the 2018/19 season by playing a starring role in last Sunday's 2-0 win over Chelsea in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium, where he scored a brace to take his Citizens career goal tally to 201!

Aguero is back and that should be a major worry for City's opponents, Arsenal, on Super Sunday. The match at The Emirates is meant to mark the dawn of a new era for the Gunners as Unai Emery takes charge of his first game as manager, although it is a familiar face that could haunt Arsenal.

Aguero has scored in five of his last six appearances against Arsenal and he has a remarkable record when it comes to scoring on the opening day of the season.

Aguero has scored in the first game of a new season on six occasions during his seven seasons as a key member of this Manchester City squad and you wouldn't bet against him finding the target on Sunday.

Sergio Aguero is 4/1 to be first goalscorer against Arsenal at The Emirates on Sunday.

There was a train of thought that Aguero's powers were on the wane but he scored 21 league goals in 2017/18 - the fourth successive season he has scored 20+ goals in a Premier League campaign - and those goals arrived at his best rate (in terms of goals per minute) since the 2013/14 campaign.

Aguero scored a goal every 93 minutes on average last season - a ratio he has bettered only once in his City career - and he appears to have risen to the challenge posed by his younger teammate, Gabriel Jesus, who has himself made such a fantastic impression since signing for City.

Guardiola, like so many Fantasy Football managers, faces a difficult decision going into the opening weekend of the season but the recent statistics show that Aguero is worth persevering with against Arsenal at The Emirates.
