Why Real Madrid Target Eden Hazard Could Sign New Deal At Chelsea

Chelsea fans should be pleased that Antonio Conte is in line to take over at Real Madrid according to one Belgian journalist.

Kristof Terreur, who reports on the Belgian players in the Premier League, tweeted that Eden Hazard would be more likely to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge next summer if his former boss was in charge of Real Madrid.

Hazard has frequently been linked with a move to Real Madrid, especially last summer when his performances for Belgium at the World Cup saw his stock rise on the global stage. The player himself has stated that he was torn about where his future would be but in a recent interview, he stated he wouldn't have a problem staying with Chelsea for the rest of his career.

Julen Lopetegui's days as Real Madrid boss seem numbered, especially after their 5-1 defeat to fierce rivals Barcelona in El Clasico on Sunday. His press conference after the game was a defiant one as he batted off questions about his immediate future but the feeling in the Spanish press is that he will be sacked imminently with Conte the clear favourite to take over. Last week, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho emerged as a potential replacement for Lopetegui as he is still held in high regard by Real Madrid President Florentino Perez. But prising him away from Old Trafford will be prohibitively expensive.

Conte's arrival will not please former Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois who stated last week that he was "concerned" about stories that Conte could be the club's next manager.
