Manchester United’s Europa League group stage fixture against Sheriff Tiraspol will go ahead as planned on Thursday 15th September.
The news comes on the back of the Premier League, EFL and the WSL confirming that this weekend’s fixtures will be postponed after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday evening.
Manchester United were in action on the same night, hosting Real Sociedad at Old Trafford and were unable to postpone the game in time, with the Spanish side claiming a 1-0 victory on the night.
Next week, the Red Devils are set to travel to Moldovan champions Sheriff Tiraspol, with the game being in doubt after the prior postponement of this weekend's fixtures.
There are a total of ten British teams playing in European competition next week, with Liverpool, Chelsea, Rangers, Manchester City and Arsenal all hosting fixtures in the UK.
The other teams involved are yet to confirm whether they will be playing next week, but statements are expected to arrive in the coming days.
A tweet from BBC’s Manchester-based football correspondent Simon Stone did confirm that Manchester City’s home game against Borussia Dortmund will also go ahead, but no official confirmation has been given from the club at this time.
