Arsenal gaffer Unai Emery has quashed the rumours claiming that his German number 10 is on his way out of the Emirates in January, saying his side ‘need Mesut Ozil.’ In the Gunner’s press conference today, when asked if Ozil had a future at the club he responded:
“Yes, why not?”
“I want every player with a good mentality to help us and give us their characteristics and quality. We need Mesut Ozil.”
Ozil has found himself with little game time in recent weeks with Emery struggling to fit the talented German into his new 3-4-2-1 system. However, the French boss was keen to praise
“Every player wants to play and be okay to help the team when we need. The frustration is the same for everybody when they didn’t play in a match.
“But I spoke with him and with the regularity in the season, I am telling him what we need from him and he has the commitment to help us and the quality and the characteristics to help us when the team needs his moments in the pitch in one game.
“Tomorrow he is in the 18 players, in the squad.”
Arsenal visit Turf Moor to take on Burnley in the early kick-off tomorrow lunch-time looking to get back to winning ways after a disappointing loss to Tottenham in the League quarter-finals. A win would move them closer to the top four which would mark a decent season under their new boss.
Mesut Ozil will be hoping to play a key part in Arsenal’s season.
