The Sportsman’s exclusive bill of rugby league continues on Sunday when we stream live coverage of the Betfred Women’s Super League clash between the table-topping York City Knights and Huddersfield Giants.
And there’s even more to come, with Halifax Panthers facing London Roosters live on The Sportsman seven days later in the blockbuster Betfred Wheelchair Super League.
The Knights have been the story of the season in the women’s game, with their sensational 13-6 win over champions and Challenge Cup holders St Helens in round two helping to propel them ahead of the pack. That was followed two weeks later by a 24-10 victory over Leeds Rhinos, also streamed live on The Sportsman, as Lindsay Anfield’s side saw off the only other unbeaten record in Group 1.

Now they begin their second portion of fixtures with a home fixture against Huddersfield, who they dispatched 50-6 in their away meeting in round one. The Giants have continued to struggle since, making York big favourites to win Sunday’s 3pm kick-off at the LNER Community Stadium, which will see coverage begin on The Sportsman and our Rugby League YouTube channel at 2:45pm.
That clash will be followed on Sunday, June 24 with a Betfred Wheelchair Super League encounter which sees both Halifax and London seeking to collect their first points in phase two of the league campaign.
The pair are currently neck and neck in third spot after two rounds of the four-team section of the season after Halifax topped the initial phase with five wins from six. London also qualified comfortably, winning four of their half-dozen matches to finish six points clear of the sides chasing a top-four spot.
But now the pressure will be on both sides to hunt down Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors, both of whom have recorded back-to-back wins since the season split. Halifax will be hopeful of turning high-scoring performances into league points, having gone down 48-46 to Leeds last time out following a 64-48 defeat to Wigan in their previous fixture.
Failure to pick up two points at the Sedbergh Sports Centre would leave either side with a mountain to climb over the remainder of the campaign, making next Sunday’s live clash an absolute must-win.
That make gets underway at 2pm, with live and exclusive coverage beginning on The Sportsman and The Sportsman Rugby League at 1:45pm.
