15:55 Lingfield - 5f Class 4 Handicap - Zac Brown 5/2 - 1pt Win

The Aintree Festival is now just under a week away it is slightly concerning that racecourses are still being forced to cancel fixtures due to the wet weather. This afternoon’s meeting at Wetherby is the latest casualty whilst weekend meetings at Stratford, Limerick and Naas have already been postponed.

With three All-Weather meetings on offer today I’ve decided to head for Lingfield for my Nap where I’m fancying Charlie Wallis’  Zac Brown 5/2 to claim the ninth victory of his career. This seven-year-old son of Kodiac had a wind operation at the end of January and had his first run since at Chelmsford just over three weeks ago in a class 3 handicap over 5 furlongs.. Sent off at 25/1 his odds said he had no chance, but he took keen hold and stayed on well to finish 4th, under three lengths behind the winner Tropics.

I think he will have come on a lot for that run and today’s drop down to a class 4 should really do the trick. He was second here at Lingfield just over 12 months ago in a class 2 race when rated 9lb higher than today’s mark of 85. Another interesting pointer is that Zac Brown has also been a winner off 5lb higher here at today’s venue last February. Three times a winner in Class 4 races and with his favoured trip being 5 furlongs I feel that he stands a really good chance in today’s race.

Jockey William Carson takes the ride today for in form trainer Charlie Wallis who has had 4 winners from his last 12 runners! He’s currently priced at around the 5/2 mark and with there only being seven runner in the race I’m going to put up a 1 point win and hopefully get the weekend off to a belter.
