Zinedine Zidane Shocks Real Madrid With Surprise Exit

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has left the club after winning his third consecutive  Champions League on Saturday night. The 45-year-old leaves the club after two and a half years at the helm, in which he won a staggering 104 games out of 149.

As a club legend, he came into this role as somewhat of an unknown but has succeeded all expectations. Three Champions League titles, one La Liga title along with one Supercopa de Espana, a UEFA Super Cup and a FIFA Club World Cup makes these last few years one of the most successful in Real Madrid’s illustrious history.

Zidane’s departure will be confirmed at 12pm BST by the club at a press conference which both Zidane and Florentino Perez will attend. For the Frenchman, he is highly tipped to take over as France manager after the World Cup as Didier Deschamps’ contract expires at the end of the tournament in Russia.

Another move he could take is moving to the Premier League with Chelsea, who are still indecisive over their current boss Antonio Conte. The Italian underachieved with the Blues this season missing out on the Champions League and Roman Abramovich is keen to make a change and put Chelsea back up into the European elite.

For Real Madrid, this leaves a problem that they will need to fill. Arsene Wenger and Guti have both been linked with the post in the past and they will no doubt be considered by the Real Madrid board. Could this mark the end of Madrid’s European dominance?

This is huge news coming out of Spain and this could mark a big managerial shake-up across some of Europe’s top clubs.
