Hunter Mahan is an American golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. Mahan has multiple tour victories to his name, including two World Golf Championships, although a success in the majors has so far eluded him.
Born in California, Mahan graduated from Oklahoma State before turning pro back in 2003. Mahan had a strong career in the amateur ranks including winning the Haskins Award for outstanding collegiate golfer back in 2003.
Mahan adapted well to the pro game as he earned his PGA Tour card just a year after turning pro, and he hasn't looked back since. The man from Orange picked up his first tournament success in 2007 when he won the Travelers Championship in a play-off from Jay Williamson. That win was a major breakthrough for Mahan although it took him almost another three years before he entered the winners circle again, registering two victories in both 2010 and 2012.
The Major Championships have proven a tougher nut to crack for Mahan although he has performed well at times, finishing in the top-10 on a number of occasions, three of which came at the US Masters. However, it's a record he will be eager to improve on going forward, while getting back into the US Ryder Cup team for will also be of high priority for such a successful match-player like Mahan.
