Zach Johnson is one of the most experienced and solid players currently on tour and we can expect him to stay on the big stage for some time to come. Born in Iowa City, Johnson graduated from Drake University before turning pro back in 1998. The American spent the early part of his pro career playing on the Nationwide and Hooters Tour before finally earning his PGA Tour card in 2003 after topping the Nationwide Tour money list.
Johnson was quick to settle on the PGA Tour as he won his first tournament at the Bell South classic the following year. That was a real landmark win for Johnson but his second PGA Tour win would be a monster success three years later. The man from Iowa shocked the game as he won the Masters at Augusta in 2007 by two clear strokes, It was his first Major Championship and proved once and for all that he was a man for the big occasion. Johnson has a super solid game from tee to green and that can certainly stand him in good stead when the pressure heats up at a Major Championship.
Since then, Johnson has picked up a number of wins on the tour including twice at the Crowne Plaza Invitational and most recently at the John Deere Classic in 2012. That win was good enough to earn Johnson a spot on the American Ryder Cup team at Medinah for a third time during his long career.
It is fair to say that Johnson is not the most fashionable player on the tour but his talent is without question. He is a Major winner at Augusta and remains an important part of the top 50 in the world rankings at the moment and we expect him to feature for a few years to come.
