Farmers Insurance Open
The Farmers Insurance Open is a PGA Tour event which takes place in January at the Torrey Pines Golf Club in San Diego (California). The tournament, established in 1952, is played on the North and South courses at Torrey Pines, with both courses used for the first 36 holes, while the final 36 holes are played solely on the South Course.
Tiger Woods has been very successful at the tournament, claiming a stunning seven wins since 1999, including four in a row between 2005 and 2008. Woods also won the US Open at the Torrey Pine club back in 2008 and holds the joint-record (alongside George Burns) for the lowest score (-22 under-par) which he achieved on route to his first win in 1999. Fellow American Phil Mickelson is the only other player to have more than two wins to his name at the tournament.
