The Sportsman's Verdict
WISE COUNSEL landed his maiden at the fourth attempt at Haydock and Clive Cox's colt could prove to be a fair bit better than his handicap mark of 87 suggests. His effort prior to getting off the mark at the same course saw him place behind French 2000 Guineas third San Donato and a subsequent Group 2 winner in Hello Youmzain, and the manner in which he won his final juvenile outing suggested the extra furlong would play to his strengths. Gentle Look makes some appeal on his Redcar success, while the drop in distance looks a positive for Red Bravo based on his return at Sandown.
