Away from football, Usain Bolt had only just set the 100m World Record, Anthony Joshua was still an unknown amateur and Conor McGregor had fought just four MMA fights. The world was a very different place at the end of the naughties, that is for sure. Joe McElderry was on the brink of becoming a world superstar having just won the X-Factor, Gordon Brown was the Prime Minister and Donald Trump was still featuring on The Apprentice USA and was more likely to be found in the WWE ring than the White House.
