Over 120 Years On, Saucony Are Still Architects Of Style And Innovation

We take a look at our favourite shoes from Saucony's excellent Originals line

Saucony have been constructing high-quality shoes for all walks of life since 1898 and, 120 years later, they are still just as committed to making the most innovative, boundary-breaking and fashionable kicks on the market. Saucony’s Original range is a great example of what the Pennsylvanian powerhouse have been producing for well over a century.

From the stylish to the comfortable, we take our pick of three of our favourite shoes from the Originals line...

Jazz Original ‘Peak’, £85

Given the socially-distanced world we currently inhabit, we’ve probably never spent so much time in the great outdoors and Saucony’s Jazz Original ‘Peak’ is absolutely ideal for those jaunts through the countryside, wanders through the woods and hillside rambles.

Inspired by climbing shoes, the Jazz ‘Peak’ walks the tightrope between a technical shoe and a fashionable one with absolute aplomb. Available in four colour schemes, they look incredible but they are also designed to be robust, durable and, perhaps most importantly, comfortable. On top of that, the shoes use shearling lining for a warm and cosy fit, ideal for those cold months ahead.

Azura Premium Leather, £76

Saucony take us all the way back to 1988, a year when Die Hard, Rick Astley and shoulder-pads reigned supreme, and, like the sentence you're reading, the Azura Premium Leather are drenched in nostalgia.  Based on the Azura model from 32 years ago, the Azura Premium Leather is a lightweight, fast runner that has returned in its original colourway and features an upper made of synthetic micro-suede, whilst keeping the original torsional rigidity bar in place as well.

As Saucony say themselves, this shoe isn’t hot air or hype, just one seriously awesome sneaker. We totally agree.

Shadow 5000 Vintage, £95

Saucony’s heritage when it comes to making running shoes of the highest quality is unquestionable and when the original Shadow was built in the 80s, it was built with one thing in mind; Performance.

Fast forward to 2020 and the latest update of the model, the Shadow 5000 Vintage, is no longer about how fast you can go, instead it’s all about style and comfort. The style aspect is covered in spades with a whopping 19 colourways available to choose from (we’re rather fond of the Blue/Gold/Grey) and as for comfort, this retro classic features a soft, flexible sole that provides total tranquillity for your feet and absorbs shock every time you take a step.
