About The Sportsman
The Sportsman was first published as a newspaper in 1865, running for almost 60 years before ceasing circulation in 1924.
On the 20th July, 1871, the Football Association held a meeting at The Sportsman’s London office at Boy Court, Ludgate Hill, where it was agreed that a knockout competition would be established for its member clubs…The FA Cup was born!
Fast forward 90 years and when the opportunity to purchase the domain name, thesportsman.com, became available, we jumped at the chance of acquiring a brand name that was steeped in sporting heritage.
