Extra Elusive Amongst This Week's Eyecatchers To Add To Your Trackers

For those who follow some of my regular eye-catchers I am sure you enjoyed the Irish Derby on Saturday. Latrobe and Rostropovich battled it out in a thrilling finale, both ones I’d pointed out earlier this season at pretty massive prices too. Keep watching those, could be even bigger days to come for the pair.

I don’t think there’s any classic winners among this week’s five, but I’m sure they can provide you with a profit so they’re worth tracking.

Court Of Justice (Winner of a 1m maiden at Beverley on Tuesday)

David Simcock’s three-year-old was sent off a very strong favourite up in Yorkshire, and he delivered in rather impressive style winning by almost four lengths. He travelled strongly and finished off the race very well, running on in what looked a very impressive victory. He’ll make the step up in grade now and I think he can climb quite far on the ladder this year, he could be a very smart horse in the making.

Spanish Aria (Fifth on debut at Newbury on Tuesday)

Jockey Robert Havlin certainly earnt his paycheck when riding this nicely-bred filly for John Gosden. He took her from the far right stall all the way over to the inner rail before encountering all types of trouble in running. She didn’t travel into the race well enough to win it, but picked up very nicely at the end and should finish much closer next time out.

Extra Elusive (Winner of a 1m2f novice at Nottingham on Thursday)

Firstly it must be said Extra Elusive won what looked a very weak race, however he did it very very easily and recorded a pretty smart time too. Time isn’t always the best way to judge a horse but when a horse wins at 1/6, it’s the only way to take a look at how good they are. I liked the way this horse won, and I think he can certainly go well in pattern company this season.

Poets Dream (Fifth in a 1m handicap at Windsor on Saturday)

This horse tried to win from the front on Saturday but eventually couldn’t beat a rival, and I do think he’s a horse to watch in the lower grade handicaps throughout the summer. He wasn’t pushed too hard at Windsor and just looked a bit sluggish in the closing stages of the race. He’s no superstar but he’ll pick up a couple of handicaps from the front this season.

Tashaaboh (Winner of a 6f novice at Doncaster on Saturday)

I’d been watching this horse ever since he got within a neck of Richard Hannon’s smart raider Embour at Lingfield, as that’s a horse I know was very good. He followed up that second with what looked a pretty good victory of his own. Jim Crowley took him from the front early on and nothing could get close to him that day. He’s another who can land a few more wins this season.
